Spring 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium

Application Deadline: Sunday, March 26 | Event Date: Saturday, May 13

The Spring 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium is now open for applications! The Symposium provides you with a platform to exhibit your exciting research achievements to all community members. Capstone projects, DURF projects, research projects from courses, Dean’s Service Scholars, Study Away programs, and other independent research done under faculty guidance at NYU Shanghai are welcome!

Advice and Tips on Applying for DURF!

The DURF Program awards funding to NYU Shanghai students for summer research in any field of study. Before you apply, read some great advice and tips from former DURF recipients and Faculty Mentors. Check out the application Instructions and contact shanghai.durf@nyu.edu with any questions.

Nomination for Summer Study at Lingnan University

Academic Affairs is preparing to nominate two students to participate in the summer program at Lingnan University. If accepted, students are fully funded for tuition and accommodation plus an airfare subsidy of HK$5,000. Students may enroll in a maximum of two courses over the summer. While transfer credit will not be applied toward the NYU Shanghai degree, this can be an excellent opportunity to broaden your international and academic experience.

Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA or above. Submit your application by 4 PM, Thursday, February 23. Nominated students will be notified on February 28.

Ecology Tour at Qiantan Parks

Jane Meihua Shen, author and ecology guide, will lead this tour in Qiantan waterfront parks. Come learn more about the history and ecology of the Huangpu river and observe birds and plants and the relationships between nature and human activities. Binoculars will be provided for sharing. To utilize the best lighting and bird conditions, the tour starts in the early morning!

Immersive Learning Day Trip: Ecology and New Villagers in Rural Shanghai

Would you like to experience a rural oasis within the city limits of Shanghai? Located on the western edge of Shanghai in Qingpu District, Cenbu Village has beautiful natural scenery and waterways. We will go on a guided ecology tour followed by free time to explore the village. The day will end with kayaking along the village canals.

On this bittersweet journey, the two characters became Like Father Like Son. This moving story sheds light on the sixty million left-behind children in China. Honors Application Development Program

Eligibility: Juniors; GPA of 3.7 or above; Experience with research, leadership and/or service, and a desire to connect academics to impact.

We are starting up an honors cohort for juniors to begin preparing applications for major scholarships and fellowships in a challenging, supportive peer group. Participants will meet bi-weekly from March 15 to May 15, creating and revising an application portfolio while digging deeper into what motivates you. Depending on your locations, we will design a mix of Zoom, hybrid, and in-person elements in Shanghai or New York. Submit your application by March 1!

Millennium Fellowship: Calling Student Leaders!

The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network (MCN) proudly present the Millennium Fellowship. This program convenes, challenges, and celebrates bold student leadership advancing the Sustainable Development Goals on campus and in communities. As a Millennium Fellow, you will hone your skills, take concrete action, and earn a certificate of recognition from UNAI and MCN. No cost is required for selected students.
